‘We were blown away by the originality of this novel, mixing fiction and literary tales genres, an intricate story of a nomadic community in Iran whose existence is overseen by a river, whose moving waters are like an eternal dream, giving the rhythm of the narration and the story of a modern woman who decides to travel in Iran, leaving her hectic existence in Europe. The novel explores several universal topics, showing in a very beautifully poetic style with words full of imagery that we should not distance ourselves from nature, and especially from each other. This novel is a perfect candidate for multiple translations across Europe.’
Sholeh Rezazadeh
Sholeh Rezazadeh (1989) kwam in 2015 vanuit Iran naar Nederland. Drie jaar na haar aankomst tekende ze een contract voor haar romandebuut De hemel is altijd paars (2021) dat bekroond werd met de Debutantenprijs van de Maatschappij der Nederlandse Letterkunde 2022 en met de Bronzen Uil Publieksprijs 2021. Het stond bovendien op de longlist van de Libris Literatuur Prijs 2022 en de Hebban Debuutprijs 2022. Van De hemel is altijd paars werden meer dan 35.000 exemplaren verkocht.
Haar tweede roman Ik ken een berg die op me wacht verscheen in 2023 en kreeg special mention van European Union Prize for Literature 2024.
Naast proza schrijft ze poëzie en columns.
Zij is ook een veelgevraagd voordrachtskunstenaar.
